Five New Year's Fashion Goals To Make

What better time for new inspiration, goals, and dreams than the start of a new year? There are plenty of things you wanted to accomplish in 2022. Maybe you wanted to read more books, find a hobby, work out more, or eat healthier. Or perhaps your goals revolve around fashion. Did you want to get rid of old clothes and make room for a new wardrobe you are happy with? Whether or not you have accomplished these goals, there is still time to bring that desired change into your life. Consider why you were unable to complete the goals you set out to in 2022 and make a plan of accomplishing them in the new year! Today, I am excited to share with you a few of my New Year’s fashion goals as well as tactics to accomplish them.

A new year is full of new opportunities. It’s time for growth, change, and fresh starts. Let’s start with a good foundation to start off your New Year’s fashion goals. You won’t be able to make much progress without the space to do so.

New Year’s Fashion Goals

Goal 1: Donate Your Clothes

I recommend starting off with a clean space, so it’s time to start making piles! The best way to stay organized is if you make 2 or 3 piles of clothes you’d like to keep with you in the new year. This might be very difficult for some of you to part ways with your clothes, but it’s beneficial in the long-run! Creating one pile for “keep” and one pile for “donating” is ideal, and maybe even an “unsure” pile. However, if you haven’t worn a piece of clothing all year especially, or even remembered you had it, it’s time to say goodbye! If you have clothes that are still in good condition, but maybe a little too big/small for your liking, someone else would love to have it! There are plenty of pieces in all of our closets right now that have not been worn in forever. Take this opportunity to get rid of them.

Goal 2: Invest in Quality Pieces for Your Wardrobe

Now that you have space in your closet, you might be tempted to fill it again! However, our goal for this New Year is to go for quality over quantity. You won’t regret investing in quality clothes. They last longer, feel better, and definitely look better! A cheaper item of clothing might last you a year due to frequent wear and washes. You don’t have to worry about this with quality clothing though. For example, say you buy a $20 shirt that only lasts 8 months before stretching out and not looking good anymore. You could instead sacrifice more money, like $100, for a shirt that will last longer. Find a good balance of what works for you and your budget this year.

Goal 3: Find Clothes to Boost Your Confidence

High quality clothes have the potential to boost your confidence. Not only high quality pieces, but new or new-to-you clothes could do the same. While you could also gain confidence from pieces from the thrift store you proudly put together in an outfit, high quality clothes convey your style more because you invested in pieces that mean a lot to you.

Your goal for 2023 shouldn’t be just to impress others. That wouldn’t leave you feeling content in the long-run, so this year, dress for yourself! Find great clothes that you feel happy and comfortable in. This will display the best version of yourself. It will speak a lot of your unique style and leave you feeling your best.

Goal 4: Become More Environment Friendly

Not only will these clothing investments pay off over time, but they are also better for the environment! As fast fashion is on the intense rise, clothes have become “disposable” in a way. Where do these clothes go when they are simply thrown away? They end up in a landfill. The EPA reports that Americans generate 16 million tons of textile waste a year, which is a little over 6 percent of the total waste. It is best for others and for the environment to take your unwanted clothes to a donation center near you.

Goal 5: Step Out of Your Comfort Zone

It’s time to make a goal for your style that goes beyond all others. This year, let’s make it a goal to become bold in our style. We all have extremely different tastes in clothes. Don’t conform your clothing just to fit in with everyone else you see on Instagram or TikTok! Obviously, it’s great to appreciate the essential pieces that everyone else happens to have too. But, don’t just stick to that if you have the desire to wear more bold colors or patterns! Throw out all of the rules you’ve made for your own style. Take risks this year. If you’re curious about what colors or patterns you would love, there’s only one way to find out! Give it a chance. Trial and error is the best way to find your style, and just go with the flow!

I hope you have loved these New Year’s fashion goals I’ve shared with you. Overall, it’s the year to gain confidence in your style. Whether you want a bold look or a simple look, you can invest in great pieces that will change the game for you. I hope 2023 is an amazing year for you and those you love! Take time to reflect on the past year and point out where you can grow and flourish in the coming year.
