Fall Fashion Trends To Consider For 2022: Part I

To celebrate the best way I know how today I will be sharing some of my favorite up-and-coming fall fashion trends. In fact, this will be a multi-part series featuring different items that make up the perfect fall outfit.

Today, we’ll start from the top by discussing makeup, hair and garments and we’ll eventually work down to the toes by researching a few shoe trends to look out for this fall.

First, let’s start off by recapping what trends we have already seen this year so far. This past summer, we saw a lot of bright colors with popular materials like mesh, silk and linen. These few trends really took social media by a storm and it seemed like you couldn’t scroll on Instagram without seeing at least one white linen button-up. While this is still a cute outfit, it may not be ideal for you this fall depending on your climate! The best thing about the popular summer trends was how not only versatile they were, but how breathable the fabrics were. While that is a great quality for summer weather, it typically needs to be the opposite for the cooler months of fall. As much as I would love to wear a silk top all-year round, I would quickly regret my choice after feeling the brisk air that fall time brings in!

Oftentimes, we think of style and fashion and quickly jump straight to clothes. However, it’s important to note that some of the best and most memorable looks are key details like makeup, hair and accessories.

This summer, we were able to see many different fun hairstyles become trendy! Whether you rocked a bubble ponytail, french braid buns or heatless waves, you may have participated in a summer trend at least once. One thing we will definitely see roll over into the fall season is any and all heatless hairstyles. One of the main reasons is because of how protective it is for your hair. Heat damage from curling wands, straighteners or blow dryers can be recovered, but it does take quite some time. So, it’s in your best interest to find a heatless style you love and stick with it! One great hairstyle is to simply braid your hair in sections to allow it to naturally wave when you take them down. Pairing this style with a neutral colored beanie or your favorite hair scarf would be a perfect look for this fall.

Expect to see a few new trends come up in the makeup world this fall. I know it’s hard to part ways with your vibrant eyeshadows, coral blush shades and dark bronzer, but the fall offers excellent versatility and your perfect chance to get more creative with your looks! One thing is for certain about this fall’s makeup trends — dewy skin is still in. That’s right, don’t get rid of your current makeup routine just yet because glazed, glowy skin is here to stay. One brand took over social media recently with its skin products to help you achieve this sought-after hydrated look. ”The Ordinary” has been one of the most popular skincare brands this year thanks to influencers on Tiktok. In fact, there was a period in which The Ordinary sold a bottle of the “Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% serum” every three seconds in 2020. That shows how important skin care is regardless of the year or season! Hydrated skin is especially important when it starts to get colder outside. If you tend to have more dry skin, this is definitely an important time for you to find that perfect moisturizer that works well with your skin type.

Another makeup trend that we’ll see come up this fall is the use of shades of brown. With products like brown eyeshadows, eyeliners and lip liners, we will see a lot of brown this fall. This is something we saw everywhere in the 1990’s and as we know, history repeats itself and that’s definitely the case in fashion and makeup trends too.

Finally, let’s talk about garments. One big trend we will see make its way around soon is long coats and sweaters. This definitely made its mark last year with the popularity of trench coats and oversized sweaters, and I expect it to come back even stronger this year. Another similar item that will be on trend this fall is a blazer. This look gained attention a lot last year with pops of style like hot pink, houndstooth or plaid. It is truly a look that is timeless because of its versatility. It is all in your control on whether you want to dress it up or down! You can quickly dress a blazer down by pairing it with loose-fitting jeans or joggers and dress it up with trousers and heels.

For the perfect “in-between” outfit trend, go for a light-weight sweater with your favorite pair of boyfriend jeans. This will keep you content during the weird mixed days of hot/cold weather.
