7 Colors Dominating Spring 2024:
Last year we really put everything we had into wearing bold, bright colors…while at the same time promoting neutrals and minimalism to the max. Barbie pink took the world by storm, and capsule wardrobes were on the rage. It felt like we were all still trying to find our footing when it comes to what’s officially in and what’s officially out. But it seems like this spring, light, airy, pastels are making a comeback with a new and revitalized meaning to each of them.
Now as I always say–TRENDS ARE NOT SET IN STONE. Wear whatever your heart desires, when you desire it. I’m just here to help illuminate the runway, and ultimately, the stores we will shop in will be busy promoting. So if you’re wondering why certain colors keep appearing in storefronts…here’s why!
Spring has always been such a wonderful time of year. Whether we realize it or not, the short days disappear and the sun starts to take charge of our days. This season has always held an alluring power that inspires us to get outside and try something different.
Personally, thanks to past trends that have forced me to pick either one extreme or the other (such as bold color or minimalist neutrals) I’ve been feeling less enthused to wear what's in my closet and more enticed to try something that gives me purpose and energy.
While there is nothing wrong with capsule wardrobes (I mean, I LOVE having basics to go back to–and I STILL think they are very important), this springtime combination of warmer weather and extra sunshine tends to shake us from hibernation mode and inspire us to push the boundaries of our personal style.
Color is a great way to do this, and according to spring 2024 fashion trends there are about seven new colors that many people are embracing to brighten up their day and their outfits. This coalition of colors is a mix of comeback spring pastels and bright, accent colors that just didn’t get enough love in the past. So let's dive right in and explore the seven colors you’ll see everywhere this spring/summer season.

Candy-Apple Red
From being the signature lipstick of Taylor Swift to being a staple from Valentines to Christmas, Red never seems to go out of style (get it?). This season, red takes on a new feeling, one that's much softer than the one it carried throughout winter. Our new red is one that’s shiny light like a candy apple, bright like a maraschino cherry and delicate like a cardinal. This trend keeps its strong color dainty by acting as an accent piece. Try popping on a pair of red ballet flats or sneakers, followed by a soft cardigan or bag the next day. It’s a bold color so don't use too much of it at once–this spring we’re thinking soft–a little goes a long way.
Powder Blue
Blue is back and better than ever. Think cinderella–but chic. While vibrant reds and warm peaches have really stolen the year somehow quaint little pastels have become a serious staple for everyone. It’s fresh, it’s feminine and usually associated with more romantic and eye-catching pieces. Contrary to red, feel free to use this shade of blue all over the place–it’s elegance is something that is best felt by larger outfits. From light knitted tops to femme dresses that need an extra polish of sophistication, power blue is the perfect way to represent the refreshing and tranquil feel of spring.
Baby Pink
I’m sure we all remember the chokehold that pastel, light pink had on us in 2015…no? Oh…haha yeah me either… From ballerina/princess inspired home decor to pink covered wedding palettes–this shade of baby pink was at the center of every millennial brand campaign (and every 2000s coming of age film). Well, according to the most recent runway collections for Spring & Summer of ‘24 this shade is BACK, but not with the same princess core it had before. With the way it’s being presented, I see a more delicate and refined feel that underscores a simple yet graceful take on womanhood. There’s no limit to how many ways this color can be used: accessories, athleisure wear or even simple layering pieces–when in doubt, we always wear pink!
Lavender & Lilac
Purple can be a tricky color to style, but its lighter cousin lilac is a beautiful shade that works with almost every skin tone. True to the pastel feel we can easily associate with easter–this shade is perfect for days spent under the sun. If you aren’t excited about baby pink, this soft hue is inviting in every form. Get it in chunky winter sweaters or whimsical fairy inspired dresses–this shade is ‘seasonless’ and will work great in a transitional season like spring! Due to its cool sheen, the color works well as skirts or trousers, acting as a chic substitute for gray that better fits spring.
Butter Yellow
Just like sunshine, a soft buttery yellow is a definitive mood booster filled with positivity. It’s a cult classic color for spring! This pale yellow is an easy color for neutral lovers to add with any outfit due to its cream like appearance, plus it’s just so easy on the eyes and muchhh easier to style than your average bright sunflower yellow. You can easily pair it with whites, browns and blues. I mean add a yellow tank top to a pair of jean shorts, a pale cardigan to a white top for a burst of easy color, pale yellow linen pants or grab an easy accessory like a purse or headscarf.
Metallics
Metallics like silver, gold, and bronze sheens still haven't gone away? Thank goodness. What we all thought was just some fad for the holidays is sticking around as an easy way to truly add a somewhat neutral pop of personality to any outfit. Right now, silver is still the most popular choice, with gold coming up as a close second–but recently metallic accessories have really expanded beyond jewelry. Shoes, belts, bags, jackets and even midi skirts have taken low-key transformation to a new level! Pair it with an all black look for a subtle spark or add metallic flare to every part of your outfit for a trendy spring to remember.
Cheetah
I know what you're thinking…Cheetah isn’t a color! Well yes and no. This pattern’s power is so characteristic that it’s powerful enough to be considered its own color for me. Besides–who doesn't love a wildcard? Classic cheetah fits win with every on-the-rage trend right now: mob-wife, femme-grunge, and of course sophisticated prep. While many people might say that this trend never truly went away–its recent appearance is very different from the past. This spring is all about pops of color that bring life and vitality to an outfit. Adding cheetah print to your wardrobe can easily add flair to a dull corporate look, make you denim look a little less casual or add easy-going sexy-ness to anything in your closet.
