Stylish Start: Back to School Fashion Tips and Trends
Happy School Season ladies! Hopefully the back to school transition hasn’t been too strenuous for you! With Back to School season comes that fun juggle of coming and going, as well as adjusting our closets to the temperatures slowly transitioning into those cool fall days. I’ve already been looking into fall inspiration but for now let’s soak up the final few weeks of summer and finish off our summer style strong! I’ve spotted dresses, stripes, skirts, button downs, linen and cotton materials, and a variety of colors that will get you through this last stretch!
STripes:
Stripes while never fully “gone” are officially back- proving to be a timeless trend in the fashion world. This classic pattern offers a versatile way to play with proportions and styles, from bold to skinnier lines, to vertical lines that elongate the silhouette or horizontal bands that add a playful touch. Fashion forward designers have embraced stripes in a variety of fabrics and color combos making them a staple for creating looks that are both stylish and universally flattering. Paired with other patterns or worn as a statement piece, stripes continue to be a popular choice to add classic charm and contemporary flair to your closet!
Lighter Fabrics: Loose Cotton and Linens
This has continued through the entire summer, but loose linen and cotton shirts, pants, skirts - anything are all the rave right now. Cotton’s breathability and softness provide a comfortable fit that’s ideal for the hottest of days, while linen’s natural texture adds a touch of sophistication without sacrificing comfort. This trend really embraces relaxed silhouettes that allow for movement and ease, making these fabrics not only practical but also chic. Whether it is a flowy linen dress or a pair of breezy cotton pants, these materials ensure you stay cool and collected, no matter how high the temperatures rise.
Long Flowy Skirts
Along with the lighter weight fabrics, I’ve also seen long flowy skirts- but vibrant and patterned ones at that. Think a simple little t-shirt up top and then it flows out into a bright eye catching flowy skirt. Casual, but still extremely cute and practical. With their airy fabrics and graceful movement, long flowy skirts offer a feminine touch to any outfit, whether you're dressing up for a special occasion or keeping it casual. The great thing about this trend is its adaptability; pair them with sandals and a lightweight blouse for a daytime look, or elevate the style with wedges and a fitted top for evening wear.
Button Downs
The button down is making a stylish comeback this summer, also versalite and easy while offering a chic yet relaxed look for any occasion. Whether it be a simple white shirt for a polished look, or a vibrant pattern to make a statement, this wardrobe staple can be dressed up or down with minimal effort. Tuck it into high-waisted shorts for a fresh daytime feel or layer it over a swimsuit for a breezy beach cover up. This shirt's ability to transition seamlessly from day to night and its endless styling possibilities, the button down is a must have that delivers both sophistication and practicality.
The August Color PALETTE:
As for a late summer color palette, I’ve been seeing aquas and light blues, yellows, greens and champagnes with the occasional magenta, darker pinks. Aqua and light blue bring a breezy, tranquil feel reminiscent of clear skies and water, making them ideal for relaxed yet sophisticated looks. These tones with the warmth of yellow injects energy and optimism into any outfit. Greens, ranging from soft mint to deeper olive, bring in a touch of nature inspired elegance and balance pairing perfectly! Lastly, champagne and white serves as a luxurious neutral, with its subtle shimmer adding a touch of glamor and versatility. This palette blends cool and warm tones in a way that's both refreshing and chic making it a favorite for creating outfits that are stylish, balanced and full of life. I’m just obsessed with these colors!
There you have it! I’m loving these comfy, casual but also put together looks for our final weeks of summer! Remember, being a mom doesn’t mean you can’t dress like all the other fashionistas out there! Fashion is about feeling good, confident and reflecting your best self so whatever it is you want to wear, put it on and own it, rock it! With fall creeping around the corner take in the final wears of shorts and bright colors. I hope this gives you some encouragement and excitement for carpool lines and bus stop pick ups! Happy August friends, Thanks for Reading! Check back next month for some fall transition pieces!
