Moms.

(If, by “world,” what Beyonce actually meant was: the entire household, everyone’s schedules, and afternoon carpool. Then, yes. #accurate)

But, you know who else runs the world? The girl for whom Mother’s Day isn’t all breakfast in bed and homemade cards. She might be longing to be a mother, or she might be missing her own mother. If that’s you this Mother’s Day, then I am so sorry. Know that I wish I could reach through your screen, hug your neck, and tell you how strong and awesome you are. And then give YOU a gift too. Just for being you. (Also, because I’ve now renamed today ‘WHO RUN THE WORLD’ DAY. And you’re a world runner, I can tell.)

FOURTEEN

Today our marriage is a fourteen year old. So we’re gonna talk about John y’all. And not ONLY to say something outlandish to see if actually reads the blog. Although that will be an added bonus. Muahahaha.

See, today, we’ve been married for FOURTEEN years. I know what you’re thinking, and the answer is YES. Yes, I WAS a child bride. I met John the very day I moved to Atlanta for my first job out of college. What followed was a quick breakup with my current boyfriend, because I knew SOMETHING about John was different. And even though I couldn’t remember his first name after our last meeting (I just referred to him as “the hot guy from that thing”), I knew I’d see him again, and I KNEW he was special.

Also, hi, 2018? Why doesn't everything automatically save the moment I type it? Why can't I just think it, and skip typing altogether? Why don't we all have pet panda babies?

When you first meet your person, everything is romantic, perfect, and shiny. Her emotional outbursts and shopping habits are ADORABLE and QUIRKY. His borderline hoarding and unnatural love of Pearl Jam are SO CUTE. You will obviously love each other forever and ever and ever, while never fighting, and living in a rosy bubble for the rest of your life.
